Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Is the TPOA the same as the Tarzana Neighborhood Council or the Tarzana Community and Cultural Center at Ventura and Vanalden?

No, the TPOA, TNC, and TCCC are all separate organizations. TPOA is an organization of Tarzana property owners formed to protect and enhance the quality of life in Tarzana and facilitate our interface with the city. See the TPOA history link for a detailed description. The TNC is an LA City Charter mandated, quasi-governmental organization which promotes public participation in city governance and monitors delivery of city services. See the link to TNC for more information. The TCCC is a community resource, available for local events and meetings, purchased by donations from the community, and administered by a separate volunteer organization.

How can I contact the Tarzana Property Owners Association?

You can email us at or write to us at Tarzana Property Owners Association, P.O. Box 571448, Tarzana, CA 91357.

Who can become a TPOA member?

TPOA membership is open to any owner of property in Tarzana. Family membership dues are $25 per year. Renters and businesses are not eligible, but both are encouraged to be active in the Tarzana Neighborhood Council with which we share many common goals.

When and where does the TPOA Board meet?

The TPOA Board meets the 2nd Monday of each month except in July and August at Tarzana Community and Cultural Center at 19130 Ventura Blvd., Tarzana. The meetings start at 7:30 pm. We are open to the public, but please notify us ahead of time due to space limitations.

Where can I get a copy of the meeting agenda?

Agendas are available on this website before each board meeting. Minutes of the meetings are available on the website before the next meeting. The agenda for the upcoming meeting and draft minutes of the prior meeting are e-mailed approximately one week in advance to all TPOA members who furnish us with their e-mail address.

May I become a member of the TPOA Board?

Elections are held annually at our Town Hall Meeting, held in late April or early May. Announcements of the meeting will appear in the newsletter and on the website. Members may be appointed between annual elections with the approval of the board.

What are my dues spent on?

TPOA dues are spent primarily for communication to our membership. The largest expenses are the cost of printing and mailing of the annual dues notices, the mailings of the agenda and draft minutes and the costs associated with the Annual Town Hall Meeting. Other expenses include our membership in the Federation of Hillside and Canyons Association and the Woodland Hills-Tarzana Chamber of Commerce and our annual donation to the Tarzana Community and Cultural Center. All board members are volunteers who are not compensated for their time.

What are the Annual Town Hall Meetings and how are the topics chosen?

The Annual Town Hall meetings are an opportunity for our now approximately 5oo family memberships to get together to elect the TPOA Board of Directors and discuss topical subjects of interest. The board selects the topic that seems most relevant to the community at that particular time. Frequently topics are forums for election candidates and important development issues. Any member may submit suggestions for topics to the board.
